Multimedia producer Nicole Ayers presents The William Penn Project, a home video exhibition chronicling the promise and destruction of William Penn High School in Philadelphia, PA.



Featuring exclusive, never before seen VHS video footage, 35mm film photographs,  digital video footage and mementos, this exhibition will be on display through this Spring 2021 at The Madlab Post studio in the Bok building.

Learn about how the City of Philadelphia’s abandonment of William Penn High School impacted access to education for students in underserved areas of North Philadelphia, only to usher in Temple University's expansion on Broad street, using over 9 acres of land formerly occupied by William Penn to house Temple’s Sports Complex for the University’s football team and other athletic programs.

Tours of The William Penn Project are Free.

In connection with her Spring 2021 exhibition, The William Penn Project, Nicole Ayers is inviting the public to help tell the history of William Penn High School.  


Join us in illustrating an overlooked part of North Philadelphia history. This exhibition is an opportunity to see and share with us your photos, memories and what William Penn High School meant to you or your loved ones – the good, the bad or the ugly – with an audience of our community, and to see your neighbors’ in turn. 


Discover the importance of this history and why it needs to be preserved for future generations to learn from! 


While we cannot guarantee all submitted materials will make it into the exhibition, this is a great opportunity to turn your home into an archeological excavation site, dig through your closets, call Grandma, discover and preserve your family’s or neighborhood's history!
